Divergence

Created almost one year after 'Altar', 'Divergence' can be viewed as the true culmination of the Botanical series. The work becomes a collage of the past, extracting elements from more than 4 artworks which were produced previously: 'Altar', various 'Botanicals', and 'The Past is Forward'. ‘Divergence’ fuses fauna and flora, and overloads perspective. One is not sure if the work has visual depth when viewing the top right corner, while confusion reigns at the mixed perspective of the vase and pillar at the bottom right. Although balanced as a whole, the mixed perspectives and contrasting depths create an uneasy tension, accentuated by a 3D techno dancer flaunting in the face of the audience.
